Today we had an earlier day than normal. We woke up around 6:45 and had to get our snorkel gear ready for our boat ride arranged through Club Med. For breakfast we had an omelet, toast, cereal and a shot of orange juice. We then left for the boat dock around 7:50. When we got there we were a little late and had to quickly grab our things and board the boat. The boat was clean and had lots of room for us to sit. The marina itself was an artificial channel with rock ledges on 3 sides. When we went to the first snorkel spot we sailed out about a short distance from the shore line and dove into the shallow waters of "staghorn reef". There were many fish including a small sting ray, spiny lobster, sunfish, parrot fish and durgon fish (aka triggerfish). The waves and wind were very strong as we snorkeled the boat rocked tremendously. We then went to a deeper area to where the reef drop off went down 200 meters then another drop off of 2000 meters. The water changed color dramatically to a deep blue when depth dropped and visibility cut to none. There were many fish hiding in the corals and even a monument for Columbus Landfall in the shape of a circle with a plaque that no one could seem to make out. After that we hopped back on the boat and cruised back into the harbor where we boarded and drove back for lunch.
