On Tuesday afternoon we got the chance to visit Pigeon Creek and snorkel in the unique environment it provided.
Pigeon Creek consisted of a natural channel that has an area of fast moving waters in the middle surrounded by areas of dense vegetation on the sides. This vegetation kept sediments far more cemented together than areas without through the presence of root systems that anchored the sediments together. Within the vegetation existed many different animals that found shelter either among the grasses or within conch shells and corals. Examples of these animals include fish, sea anemones, starfish, and even an octopus! The strong currents made swimming through the channel a little more difficult than normal, but overall the trip was a great time and I would recommend any snorkeler to check out this site given the chance!
